Can interviewers toggle between languages on a question-by-question basis during a single interview session? When using answer piping, if a respondent switches languages, does piped text from previous questions appear in the original language or get translated to the new language?

Which way is preferable to you?
If the piped text is the pre-coded answer to a previous question (e.g., 1=“Yes”, 2 = “No”), then the piped text will change to match the questionnaire language (e.g., French → “Oui” / “Non”). Basically, Survey Solutions grabs the label defined in the target language.
If the piped text is an open text answer, the piped text will remain in the language in which it was captured. In effect, Survey Solutions passes forward the value it receives.
