I would like to request your support regarding an issue detected during the development of a questionnaire in the “Designer” platform of Survey Solutions in September of 2024.
Our questionnaire includes multi-select categorical questions with a combo box display mode. According to the official documentation (Survey Solutions Limits), the maximum number of items allowed for this type of question is 15,000 (as of the current date). Based on this information, we added 311 Items.

After saving the changes and downloading the questionnaire again in PDF format, we noticed that the number of Items had been reduced from 311 to 200. This issue was identified when generating the new PDF. Below, I include an image highlighting this situation:
At the moment, we are unaware of the cause of this issue. We would like to know whether this is a platform error or if there are additional considerations we should take into account when working with more than 200 items in this type of question.

Is it possible that somewhere in the questionnaire process someone has changed the question presentation from Combobox to e.g. Checkboxes and then possibly adjusted it back?
That will trim the number of categories to exactly 200. The program issues a warning in this case (see image below), but it is just a warning, which is easily overlooked and clicking on SAVE finalizes the trim.
You should find the evidence of that in the questionnaire edit history. This is just a guess, but a likely explanation. If that is not the case, you can still explore the history by checking at which specific revision the number of categories has changed. A handy tool for this is the View tool in the Action menu that allows you to view that specific revision of the questionnaire in the Designer.
