Formatted text not displaying in the app (specific device)

Hello, I’m having a problem displaying text formatting in the Interviewer app on one device.
I used three types of tags: Line break, Underline, and Font color (red and purple).
I tested the app on two different devices:

  • Lenovo Tab K10: All formatting is visible.
  • Gadnic Book 7: Only text with the break tag is formatted. Text with font color is black, and the underline is not visible.

What could be the cause?
Thanks for your help!

The following public questionnaire contains examples of formatting that Survey Solutions users may employ in their questionnaires:

  1. Get the results of “Share all technical information” from the diagnostics menu on the tablet (for each model you compare).
  2. Do the screenshots of the sections where you observe differences on each device and attach here.
  3. Contact the manufacturer of the malfunctioning device for explanations showing the benchmark behavior, (especially if the same behavior is exhibited by all devices of that model).

Hi Sergiy and thanks for your reply.
Here I share the technical information and screenshots for both devices (you can see the formatted text on the lenovo but not on the gadnic tablet):

  • Image 1: purple font color in question B1f and in validation message for B1
  • Image 2: red font color in static text at the bottom
  • Image 3: purple font color in all questions and underlined in C1.2 and C1.3

Thanks again!

  1. Use the example questionnaire that I linked. This will avoid any issues with different assignments/questionnaire versions etc. It will also avoid any conditionalities on the values you’ve preloaded or entered.

  2. See if the Tester App exhibits the same difference.

AI (Gemini) advised below reasons, and I highlighted ones that I find likely explanations in this case:

  1. Regarding the color, you can try to avoid the color names and use the equivalent HEX-codes. E.g. instead of purple try something like #800080. See if that makes a difference.

To isolate the issue you may want to create a separate example questionnaire with an underlined purple text, which should be visible on every device unconditionally.

Gadnic manual lists a service email in Argentina on the last page. If that is a device-specific or compatibility issue, they would be able (and better positioned) to comment.

Questions:

A) Does anyone else experience this issue on any other device?
B) Does anyone else use specifically this Gadnic tablet and can see it working properly?

Thanks, Sergiy, for the recommendations.
I’d already tried updating Android Webview (the tablet was running version 140.0, and the new version is 142.0), but it didn’t make a difference.
I’m going to try using the questionnaire you shared, the tester app, and the code tags.
I’ll keep you posted on the results.
Best regards

Any update on this issue?

Hi Sergiy,
I apologize for not posting the test results sooner. Text format did not work with tester, nor with the public questionnaire you suggested. I couldn’t contact the tablet provider because we dindt have enough time to swicht the devices. Therefore, I changed some references in the questionnaire to all capital letters.
