Currently, Survey Solutions saves audio recording in *.m4a files. You can learn more about this format by Googling the external sites or refer to e.g. Wikipedia article on this file format.

For quantifying the costs, make several recordings using e.g. a demo server, then download the resulting audio files. This will allow you not only to estimate the costs, but also test your software for compatibility in playing those audio recordings.
