Action codes in export data

User Arthur Giesberts wanted to confirm that the action codes in the interview__actions file are different from the action codes in paradata.

YES, as of version 23.09.4 (current) of Survey Solutions they are different:

  • interview__actions file follows the codes documented here.
  • paradata file uses different codes that are documented here.

Note also, that the paradata file uses textual event coding (you will actually encounter a string like “Completed”, while the interview__actions file uses numeric (labelled) codes.

Where codes are used, labels are also used, so listing the labels for a dataset (e.g. in Stata) will give the meaning of each code:
