Account headquarters

Hello survey solutions teams
I can’t log on survey solutions demo
Have the account “'Headquarters1” and password been changed?

Dear @Tojo_Patrick ,

thank you for reporting the issue.

The published account for the demo server is supposed to be accessible, but not supposed to be modified by the visitors:

We ask the users never change the password for this headquarters user on the demo server. We also ask the users not to interfere with each other. If you didn’t create a particular interviewer or supervisor account, don’t touch it, or the work assigned to it.

Every once in a while someone is trying to outsmart the rest of the world and change the password to hijack the server to himself/herself. Luckily, Survey Solutions has:

  • different levels of user accounts;
  • detailed logging of actions.

This allows the administrator of the server:

1. to see who does this:

2. to see what actions were undertaken by the user:

2021-07-14 10:10:00	Headquarters1	UsersImported	Users: Import; User Headquarters1 created 49 users in batch mode, of which 45 are interviewers and 4 supervisors
2021-07-14 03:43:27	Headquarters1	UserPasswordChanged	user 'Headquarters1': password changed;
2021-07-14 03:43:06	Headquarters1	UserPasswordChangeFailed	user 'Headquarters1': password change failed;

2021-07-14 10:42:02	Headquarters1	AssignmentsImported	Assignments: Import; User Headquarters1 created 49 assignment(s) 532-578 for Questionnaire principale essaie (v2)
2021-07-14 10:28:45	Headquarters1	AssignmentsImported	Assignments: Import; User Headquarters1 created 49 assignment(s) 482-530 for Questionnaire complémentaire essaie (v3)
2021-07-14 10:19:17	Headquarters1	AssignmentsImported	Assignments: Import; User Headquarters1 created 49 assignment(s) 434-481 for Questionnaire principale essaie (v2)
2021-07-14 10:15:21	Headquarters1	QuestionnaireImported	(ver. 2) Questionnaire principale essaie: imported;

3. To revert the actions of that user.

Correspondingly:

  • the password for the publicly accessible account on the demo server has been reset to its default value;
  • all accounts at the demo server created since the change of the password have now been locked (4 supervisors and 45 interviewers as evidenced by the above log);
  • the account on the Designer of the user who reset the demo server public account password has been locked.

The functionality of the demo server has now been restored.

I regret about the inconvenience this caused to other Survey Solutions users who relied on the availability of the publicly available demo server.
